incorporate more features for academic writing
in non-fiction types it would be nice to have “journal article” or “research proposal” in addition to dissertation.
improving citations for academic writing could include connecting to reference managers like Zotero.
instead of “chapters” for academic writing there could also be just “sections”

To clarify what you’re asking for in your first point, you are referring to the Genre Selection when creating a new project, yes?
Connecting to reference managers sounds like a very helpful solution for users who wish to organize their references within First Draft Pro. I like your suggestion for something similar to Zotero, as well as offering the option to switch “Chapters” to “Sections” for certain academic pieces.
